# Human-Centered AI: Balancing Innovation and Risk

Artificial Intelligence
Spring 2026 NYAS

Artificial intelligence is rapidly shaping how people learn, work, and interact. The focus of this project was understanding how AI can be used effectively while managing its risks.

AI already improves efficiency across healthcare, finance, and daily life, from diagnostics and fraud detection to navigation and automation.

However, it introduces challenges including bias, misinformation, privacy risks, and overdependence. There is also concern that excessive reliance may reduce critical thinking if outputs are not questioned.

The project emphasized keeping humans at the center. AI should support decision-making, not replace it, ensuring accountability and judgment remain human-driven.

The key idea is simple. The value of AI lies in how it is used, not in how autonomous it becomes.
